Our design consultants are noticing that everyone from designers to homeowners get excited about the trending new “wood-look porcelain” floor and wall tile.
The new porcelain woods are incredible and a great alternative to real wood- colors, finishes, distressing, plank widths, all available on display at our design showroom. They feel and look like the real thing while giving ease of use and many years of enjoyment. Porcelain is a great option for floor and wall tile due to the natural strength of the material, easy cleaning and maintenance, and the ability to flawlessly imitate every natural material offered in flooring and wall tile.
Here are some tips below for you to make an educated decision when selecting the perfect tile.
Durability that will last. What gives porcelain the ability to stand heavy foot traffic is the process in which porcelain tile is crafted. The mix of fine clays and minerals are fired at extremely high temperatures which allows porcelain tile to resists staining, water, fire, odors and bacteria. The composition of porcelain tile provides consistent color throughout the entire tile, including inside the tile, to handle regular “wear-and-tear” that the surface of tile can endure.
That means low maintenance. You can have the LOOK of gorgeous natural stone and wooden planks without ever having to worry about staining, scrubbing, or sealing. The surface of a porcelain tile absorbs less moisture than any other material allowing spills to get wiped up instead of easily staining. Regular maintenance includes sweeping /vacuuming regularly and damp mop weekly. Avoid abrasives such as steel wool and scouring pads. Maintenance for luxury tile has never been so easy!
The look and feel of the real thing. Let’s face it, wooden flooring is always going to bring a timeless, warm, homey ambiance into any space. Though depending on the quality of the porcelain wood look tile, there is a variation of shade, veining, knots, and texture giving it the real look and feel of a wooden tile. Shades ranging from vanilla to chocolate and everything in between, with textures ranging from distressed to fossilized and much more. Tiles with softer delicate details bring a minimal and discrete charm into a contemporary space. It’s just a matter of finding the perfect “finish” to express the atmosphere of the space.
