A Few More Allied Sign Stories…
This is an email I received recently from one of our employees, Andy Fishman:
“The sign exemplifies the culture of our firm… another way we try to make a positive impact on people’s lives… whether it is through remodeling their home and changing their physical lives, hosting charity events or by changing the slogan on the sign every week. When I first drove past Allied Kitchen & Bath over 9 years ago, the sign said “Ability is Nothing Without Opportunity” and it was at that point when I was still getting design degree that I decided this was going to be the place I would work. The sign told me more about the people behind the doors than any mention of kitchen design or cabinet sales ever could. I call it the “Spiritual Billboard.” I also knew I would be able to use the slogan I saw that day to try to get a job there someday… Next month I will be celebrating 9 years working here and I am proud to be part of the Allied family and grateful to the entire Feinberg family for the opportunities they have given me. If I had not seen the message that compelled me that day, things may have turned out differently.”
Joe also received this letter from a passerby recently. Thanks so much for letting us know what the quote meant to you, AnnMarie. We appreciate your taking the time to write us and share how much our sign quotes have meant to you -
Hello Joe,
Well it has been a year since I called you regarding a post you had on your sign of May 8, 2013. That quote read, “We met for a reason, you're either a blessing or a lesson?” It would seem that it had a romantic vent, but in this case, I was so grateful to be setting out to see an Oncologist whom I had worked with for a number of years, a genius of a man, and he made all the difference. I was so grateful for his wisdom, his paternal nature and his advise to me. You see, I had just been told that my husband would not be alive in the next 8 months. Doctor and I were always a good team at various hospitals and we put our heads together regarding my husband and came up with a plan. His name David from Yasheva University training and me from Bellevue and St. Lukes in New York. We were the Stiller and Mear of Medicine!
You called me back when I didn't see the sign the next morning on my way and I was upset that I hadn't written it down. I took a chance to call Allied and you answered and were so considerate and called me back the next day with the quote! In an age where common decency seems to be making an exit and people are more stressed and harried, you made all the difference....as Mark Twain said in choosing the road of life. I then continued to call you as various signs applied to my life situation and I used that particular message for motivational purposes either for myself or those with whom I worked.
Perhaps I didn't mention that in the course of the last 3 years, I was widowed and I am still in transition. I have faith and know that there is a plan for me and I just want to be in the right place and time to be in alignment to receive it. It has been difficult, as I also found myself resigning early from my Nursing career to take care of my husband at home and for that I have no regrets. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to do this and we had a wonderful couple of years together in a different way. He was the strongest man and met it all head on He was given less than a year and he lived four years.
Joe, I just wanted to tell you and your team at Allied Kitchen and Bath...that I am certain there are many people who are lifted up in a positive way each day as they pass by to and from their jobs, homes, errands or just out for a ride or for whatever reason they had to be on the road. No matter the state of their lives, with loss and gains, they could always depend on your wonderful messages to put a smile on their face or to tug at our heartstrings. The messages were on target most of the time and I often think when passing by today, that it is the Lords way of saying hello, I'm here and I am with you. They helped to change a negative attitude into a positive one and also to solve problems just with that little bit of inspiration. It also set the tone for the day.
I just wanted to say thanks to you and your Allied family for making the effort to place these messages for your neighbors and potential customers. Your caring, open, warm personality does make a difference. Many mornings I jotted down the message of the day and used it in addressing the Nursing Personnel at my morning standup meetings before sending them off to their patients and families.
Many times you and your family members at Allied were lifted in prayer for success in your business and in your individual personal lives as I am a great believer that we are all G-d's children and are here to help and support each other.
I wish you continued success at Allied Kitchen and Bath.
In truth,
Annmarie Tromblee
